Jazmine Sullivan is Billboard's Rising Star Award for Women 2010!

Jazmine Marie Sullivan was born April 9, 1987. She got talent both as singer and songwriter in R&B and soul music. She is also the protégé of rapper Missy Elliott. She start own her own spotlight when her debut single "Need U Bad" reached number one on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and spent four weeks atop the chart.

She's also had top 10s with "Fearless" following While her next second single, "Bust Your Windows" which made it to number four in 2008. Elements of reggae, dub, pop, jazz, Neo soul and doo-wop have great influence on her music. Jazmine cites singers Kim Burrell, Dorinda Clark Cole, Lady Saw, and Changing Faces as her biggest influences and inspirations.


In 2009 her "Lions, Tigers & Bears" was No. 10 at the chart, as well as with "Holding You Down (Goin in Circles)" was No. 3, 2010, the lead single from "Love Me Back."

Grammy-nominated R&B singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan will receive the Rising Star Award at the 2010 Billboard Women in Music Event on Dec. 2 in New York. A new star is born and rising up, she is Jazmine Sullivan!
